Adventure Girls
An interactive program for girls in grades 2-6, Adventure Girls gives girls the opportunity to meet once a month with women who are defying gender stereotypes and challenging notions of what a girl or woman “should” do or be. Adventure Girls brings girls together with college mentors and women facilitators to learn how welders, farmers, scientists and other daring women chose to do what they do and how they've found the courage to follow their dreams. Held every October, our Annual Freaky 5k Fun Run and Walk aims to forget the sexy, stereotypical costumes that are peddled at girls and young women and instead, bring scary back! In this fun community event, we celebrate Halloween by dressing up and participating to support Hardy Girls programming for girls. Awards are given out for Scariest Costume, Most Creative Costume, Largest Team, and more! So join us as we don our scariest and most imaginative costumes, kick up those sneakers, and enjoy some candy! Just watch out for the zombies masquerading as volunteers! Registration on or before October 22 ($15 students/$25 adults); Race Week ($20 students/$30 adults).
New for 2012! A short kids fun run for kids 8 and under. Come show us your best and scariest costumes! $5 registration includes prizes.
Registration starts at 8:30am, with the Kids Fun Run at 9am, Costume Contest at 9:30am and Race Start at 10am. We can't wait to see you there!!
