Announcing Our Interim President, Mary Fifield
We are pleased to announce that we have named Mary Fifield as Interim President for Hardy Girls Healthy Women.
Mary comes to Hardy Girls with 23 years of experience providing executive counsel to the leadership of a wide range of non-profit organizations regarding issues that are of critical importance to them, including organizational mission and identity, marketing, development, and public affairs.
A former journalist, she has produced headline programming for several major television networks. She was a producer at 20/20 and World News Tonight for ABC News; she was Charlie Rose’s political producer at Nightwatch with Charlie Rose for CBS News; and she produced news pieces for NBC Nightly News. She was also the producer of CBS’s award-winning public affairs program, Face the Nation.
Mary is the past president of The Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus; the former chair of the Massachusetts Government Appointments Project (MassGAP), which created the “binders of women” referenced in a recent presidential debate; the recent past vice-chair of the public-health non-profit Health Resources In Action, and a recent director of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Massachusetts.
Mary is also the mother of a fabulous daughter, Molly.
We are thrilled to bring Mary Fifield on to work with Hardy Girls as our Interim President. Mary’s years of management experience, her own personal and professional commitment to girls’ and women’s issues, and excitement for working with us to further our vision of a world where girls and women experience equality, independence and safety in their lives made her an ideal fit for this position.
About the opportunity to work with Hardy Girls, Mary wrote:
“I’m a tremendous admirer of the work that Hardy Girls, Healthy Women is doing nationwide. Throughout my career, I have had a passion for organizations that work to improve opportunities for girls. Changes that improve the environment for girls and women can’t come soon enough, particularly since we make better decisions and better laws when men and women are represented equally at the table.
“I look forward to working with the staff, board, and other key stakeholders of HGHW as it prepares strategically for its next phase and identifies and hires a permanent president. During this crucial transition, I intend to help successfully position and prepare this vital non-profit for continued future growth and influence.”
Mary will begin on July 1st and will help steward our search for a permanent President.
Thank you for your continued interest in and support of Hardy Girls Healthy Women. We look forward to this next chapter of Hardy Girls’ development.
