River is a reader, paddler, tea-drinker, nordic skier, NPR fanatic, and most of all activist, based in Farmington Falls, Maine. River has organized many student responses to issues in her school and community. This includes a “Demonstration of Solidarity” shortly after the 2016 election results to show community members that all are welcome and hate has no place in their small town. Most recently, she organized and a 300+ person rally to advocate for a better school budget proposal and to share the programs students love and were afraid of losing to cuts. The rally was successful, and the budget was voted down. River is the current Governor of Maine Girls State, and was selected to attend Girls Nation in Washington DC, where she was appointed Attorney General. Hardy Girls Healthy Women has had a profound impact on River’s life, from attending the Girls Rock! conference as a middle school girl, to being a member of GAB for all four years of high school. She looks forward to continuing her activism in the coming years.
