Anna is a senior at Winslow High School.  She enjoys family time at the lake, kayaking, and hiking. She is an active member in the performing arts including being the Vice President of the International Thespian Society at Winslow High School, a percussionist in the school band, a member of student government, and recently sat on the committee for the proposal of the new performing arts center.  Anna is looking forward to her second year in GAB in hopes to promoting a positive image of feminism and activism to other young girls in her community.

Kaitlyn

Kaitlyn – Massabesic High School –      North Waterboro

Kaitlyn is a 16 year old junior at Massabesic High School. She wants others to feel comfortable with who they are and the same for herself. Kaitlyn is always singing and playing with all her animals. She has been in GAB for three years. Growing up in a more conservative town has fueled Kaitlyn’s passion for feminism. She thinks that GAB is a great way for young women to teach the younger generation about how to believe in themselves and stand up to cause a Ruckus!

Favorite place to go on a feminist rant: In the middle of class to educate my peers about what feminism REALLY is.
Perfect day (in one sentence)Spending a day with my family without having to worry about anything at all.
How are you making a ruckus? Voicing my opinion in my community and joining other groups/organizations that share my beliefs so we can continue to make change. Also, creating conversations between opposing viewpoints so there is room for each side to learn and understand each others’ experiences and backgrounds.

 

Emma

Emma is a senior at Casco Bay High School and it is her second year on the Girls Advisory Board. She is passionate about the music industry, design, writing poetry, and songwriting; she is a published author and musician. Emma is an activist for and supporter of women in the music industry in hopes that women will rise to be equal in male-dominated industries.

Ella

Gallery

Ella is a senior at Waterville Senior High School. She loves exploring nature’s beauty, enjoying the company of her friends, eating yummy foods, and listening to good music. She enjoys being outside and active as well as stimulating her mind with knowledge and pursuing more creative projects. Some of her favorite organized activities are running in the fall as a member of the cross country team, writing articles for her school newspaper, building and painting sets and doing other behind the scenes tech work for her school plays, participating in various events on her school Science Olympiad team, providing support and serving as a role model for a homeroom of freshman as a Homeroom Buddy, mentoring a younger girl through a program called Big Brothers Big Sisters, playing basketball as a helper alongside athletes with disabilities on the unified team, jumping and hurdling during track season, and working to save the environment as a member of her school’s green team. Feminism has been an important value in her life since she was young, and she wants to help younger girls understand what equality is all about and that they are worthy and capable of achieving anything they set their minds to.

Perfect day (in one sentence): Watch the sunrise and have a self care morning sesh, followed by brunch with my gal pals, then an outdoor adventure with my boyfriend, end the night stargazing during a meteor shower.
